Christmas is a time for family, friends, and of course, food! There are so many delicious Christmas snacks to choose from, but one of my personal favorites is chocolate covered pretzels.

Like Chocolate Covered Peanuts, the sweet and salty combination is irresistible, and chocolate pretzels are so easy to make. Simply melt chocolate in a microwave-safe bowl, and then dip the pretzels into the chocolate.

I love adding Christmas sprinkles for an extra festive touch. Once the chocolate has hardened, you can enjoy your delicious Christmas snack or wrap them up to give as gifts!

They're simple to make and everyone will love them. Plus, you can leave aplate of these out for Santa on Christmas Eve.I think his reindeer love chocolate!

💭What chocolate to use for chocolate covered pretzels?

For the best results, you'll want to use a high quality chocolate that's not too sweet. Dark chocolate is a good choice, but you could also use milk or white chocolate.

If you're using milk or white chocolate, you might want to add a little bit of shortening to help the chocolate flow more easily. I like to use almond bark or candy melts for dipping pretzels, fruit or cookies like I do with my Shortbread Cookies.

💭What kind of pretzels for chocolate covered pretzels?

When you're preparing chocolate covered pretzels, you need to use a sturdy pretzel. One that can hold up to dipping in the melted chocolate and not fall apart.

I always use Utz Pretzel Rods. These pretzel rods are great for dipping and decorating!

💭How early can I make chocolate covered pretzels

If you're looking to give them as gifts, you can make them up to two weeks in advance and store them in an airtight container. Be sure to wrap each pretzel individually and attach a gift tag so that they stay fresh and crispy.

💭Tips for Making Chocolate Covered Pretzels

  • It's really important that you use a sturdy pretzel, which is why I recommend Utz Pretzels.
  • I like to use chocolate and white chocolate almond bark, but you can substitute chocolate chip morsels or candy melts.
  • Over the years I've purchased a few squeeze bottles to put the melted chocolate in.They help give the perfect drizzle effect!
  • Make sure you let the pretzels harden completely on parchment paper. Don't try to use aluminum foil, the pretzels will stick.
  • Store in airtight containers before packaging up for friends and family.

💭Recipe Variations

  • You can use any color or flavor of chocolate. Even a variety of different colors would be fun for Halloween.

💭How long can you store Chocolate Covered Pretzels?

Chocolate Covered Pretzels can last for up to two weeks if they are stored in an airtight container in a cool, dry place. However, if they are stored in a humid environment, they will only last for a few days.

So if you want to make sure your Christmas snack lasts, simply place them in an airtight container and keep them in a cool, dark place.
