Can you make this with other cuts of chicken?

Yes of course! This marinade is so delicious and can easily be used as a marinade for breasts and thighs as well. Just be aware that the baking time will be decreased for different cuts of meat.

All chicken should register an internal temperature of 165F when it is fully cooked through.

How long can you marinate the chicken drumsticks?

I find that you only need to marinate the drumsticks in the honey and soy sauce for around 30 minutes to achieve a nice bold flavor. Because this sauce doesn’t contain high levels of acid, you can safely marinate them for up to 8 hours.

What do you serve with them?

I like to garnish these honey soy chicken drumsticks with sliced green onions and sesame seeds. They are great served on a bed of rice or cauliflower rice and a side of veggies.

Dry the chicken first with paper towels. It helps to then coat it with a thin layer of flour, then in well-beaten egg whites which will help the coating stick. Do you take the skin off drumsticks before cooking? ›

If you don't want to eat the skin (it is a bit fatty), I'd still cook the chicken with the skin on. Peel it off when it's done. This might not apply for barbecuing or marinating.

What is the secret to crispy chicken? ›

FLOUR + CORNSTARCH + BAKING POWDER

My not-so-secret tip to the best fried chicken is a combination of FLOUR, CORNSTARCH, and BAKING POWDER. When mixed with the flour, the cornstarch makes the flour coating crispier and gives it that golden brown color!

How do chefs get chicken so tender? ›

It is very important to marinate chicken whenever you plan to cook with high, direct heat such as grilling or pan searing, as these techniques tend to dry out the meat as it cooks.
