ENTERTAINMENT. IT’S OPENING DAY FOR SUMMERFEST. IN THE FIRST 10,000 PEOPLE GOT ONE OF THESE AND MANY PEOPLE ARE SUPER EXCITED ABOUT THE LINEUP. THIS YEAR. WHY DID YOU LINE UP SO EARLY? KANE BROWN, KANE BROWN OBSESSED. OH, THEY’RE PRETTY GOOD. THEY’RE PRETTY INTERESTING. I’M EXCITED TO LIKE, LEARN NEW MUSIC AND LISTEN TO NEW PEOPLE. THIS IS MY FIRST FESTIVAL, SO I’M EXCITED FOR THAT. AND WYATT FLORES SAME AS HER FIRST FESTIVAL. SCOTT ZIEHL THE MAN BEHIND THE LINEUP. HE’S BEEN WORKING ON THE 2024 LINEUP SINCE LAST YEAR’S SUMMER FEST ENDED. WELL, IT’S, UH, IT’S LIKE A GIGANTIC PUZZLE. YOU THROW A THOUSAND PIECES ON THE FLOOR OF ALL THE ARTISTS THAT YOU HEAR ABOUT OVER THE COURSE OF THE YEAR. HE TOOK ON THE ROLE AFTER LONGTIME VP BOB BABISH RETIRED IN 2022 AFTER 46 YEARS WITH SUMMERFEST. ZEAL SAYS CHOOSING THE RIGHT ACTS IS ALL ABOUT KNOWING WHAT PEOPLE WANT TO HEAR. WE LISTEN TO ALL OF OUR CUSTOMERS ABOUT ALL THE DIFFERENT STYLES OF MUSIC THAT THEY WANT TO HEAR, AND THEN GRADUALLY YOU’RE JUST PICKING UP THE PIECES AND PUTTING IT TOGETHER. Police and fire union ID cards will also be accepted with a photo ID.Saturday, June 29: "Make a Child Smile" Day -- 12 to 3 p.m. The first 2,500 patrons who donate new or gently used children's books with a $10 minimum value will receive one free admission ticket, valid for the day and time of the promotion only. Picture books and early readers for children ages birth through ten are preferred.
